COMPOSITION: AMICLOXAN capsules : Each capsule contains : Ampicillin Trihydrate B. P equiv. to Ampicillin 250mg + Cloxacillin Sodium B. P equiv. to Cloxacillin 250mg. AMICLOXAN Powder for Oral susp. : Each 5ml contains: Ampicillin Trihydrate B. P equiv. to Ampicillin 125mg + Cloxacillin Sodium B. P equiv. to Cloxacillin 125mg. PROPERTIES: AMICLOXAN is a broad spectrum formulation which has the properties and the efficacies of both Ampicillin and Cloxacillin at the same time especially the stability of Cloxacillin against Penicillinase producing organisms. AMICLOXAN has antibacterial effect against most of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, it is resistant to stomach acidity, it is well absorbed by intestine and easily diffused through most organs and body tissues. It is excreted by glomerular filtration and renal tubular secretion. INDICATIONS: 1 - Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as otitis tonillitis, bronchitis, throat and nose infections caused by staphylococci, strpto-cocci, diplococcus pneumonia, and H. influenza. 2- Gastrointestinal infection : enterities, typhoid and paratyphoid caused by sheigella, salmonella, escherichia coli, proteus mirabilis and entero-cocci. 3- Urogenital tract infection : Such as urethritis, cystitis, pyelonephritis, prostatitis caused by neisseria gonorrhea, escherichia coli, and proteus miabilis. 4- In skin and soft tissue infection : Such as furunculosis, abcesses, cellu-litis and skin ulcerations, caused mostly by staphylococci. 5- Bone, joint infecttions, and meningitis : Caused by staphylococci and neisseria meningitides, etc. 6- As prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis or abscess after minor surgery such as tonsillectomy, tooth extraction, as well as those who have changed their heart valves. CONTRAINDICATIONS: AMICLOXAN is not given to individuals who have previous Penicillin or cephalosporin allergy and should be used with caution in individuals with histories of significant allergies and/or asthma. SIDE EFFECTS: AMICLOXAN is well tolerated, and the side effects - if happened - are less frequent in oral than parenteral AMICLOXAN therapy, and are usually of a mild transitory nature, such as skin eruptions, urticaria, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, blood dyscraia, joint pains, fever decrease in the number ofneutrophils, increase in the number of eosinophiles but these undesirable symptoms disappear after the discontinuation of treatment INTERACTIONS: AMICLOXAN blood level is increased in concomitant administration with probenicid, it decreases the efficacy of oral contraceptives, and the incidence ofdennatological rash is increased in patients taking allopuri-nol, and in patients with leukemia. PRECAUTIONS: Haematological studies as well as liver and renal function tests are advisable in long-term treatment, fungy might grow in some cases . It should be given with caution to patients with allergic nature as it might produce anaphy lactic shock in case of renal insufficiency . In case the dose must be decreased or the interval between the doses prolonged . It should be given with caution to infants with jaundice ; when dermatological reactions appear the drug must be stopped. DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: Children : AMICLOXAN 250 mg/5ml suspension. 1 month - 2 years ; 1/2 - 1 spoonful every 6 hours. or according to the severity of the infection. 2 years - 10 years : 1 -2 measuring spoonful every 6 hrs. or according to the severity of the infection. Adults ; AMICLOXAN capsules . 1-2 capsules every 6 hours, or according to the severity of the infection . It should be noted that the drug must be given one hour before,or two hours after meals.
