NORMOTIC is a combination of two active substances in the treatment of hypertension: 1- Atonolol a cardio selevtive BETA 1 and adrenoceptor blocking agent. 2- Hydrochlorothiazide: a diuretic of the sulphamide group. Composition: - Each tablet contains : 100 mg Atenolol 25 mg Hydrochlorothiazide Properties: Atenolol, as a cardio selective B1 adrenoceptor blocking agent, reduces cardiac rate and contraction; thereby it reducing high blood pressure. Combining atenolol with Hydrochlorothiazide, a well known diuretic with antihypertensive properties, gives NORMOTIC active hypertensive and diuretic action without intrinsic sympathomimetic and membrane stabilizing activities. Indications: NORMOTIC is used for the control of hypertension; specially with patients needing a diuretc with an adrenoceptor blocking agent. Precautions: NORMOTIC is given with care to patients with rental failure, asthmatic patients, patients with poor cardiac reserve. It should be noted that its use may camouflage the tachy cardia of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients. Care should be taken when used along with antidysrhythmic agents, clonidine, reserphinelike drugs and corticosteroids. And as with all other adrenoceptor blocking agents. It should be mentioned for fear of hypkalemia due to hydrochlorotyazide specially in long term treatment. Side-effects: Very rarely, some side effect may occur that are attributed to the drug's pharmacological action, such as" coldness of the extremities, muscular fatigue, sleep disturbances, bradycardia photometric and dermatological reactions, dryness of the mouth, weakness. Contradications: NORMATIC should not be given to patiens with : renal block, second and third degree heart block, cardiogenic, shock, overt cardiac failure, sinus bradycardia. It should not be given to children, pregnant and lactating women. Dosage: Normally, one tablet is sufficient in the treatment of hypertension or as prescribed by the physician.
