BIAZID contains two diuretics (triametrine & hydrchlorothiazide) with potassium conserving properties. COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains 50 mg triametrine and 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide. PROPERTIES: The two diuretics complement each other hydrochlorthiazide is a natriuretic with water, calcium and uric acid depleting activity, having antihypertensive. Properties, while triametrine is a potassium conserving diuretic, it compansates the potassium depleted by hydrochlorathiazide, it has no effect on calcium, nor on blood pressure. By combining these two drugs, we obtain a diuretic and an antihypertensive effect with potassium conserving advantage. INDICATIONS: BIAZID is indicated in the treatment of hypertension especially in patients on long term treatment, and to whom hypokatemia is a great risk (ie : cardiac patients). It is also recommended in the control of oedema in : cardiac patients, tiver cirrhosis, nyphrotic syndrom. Drug induced and premenstrual cases. PRECAUTIONS: It should be used with caution ( for fear of hyperkalemia) in patients with hepatic or/and renal insufficiency. Care should be observed when associating BIAZID with N.S.A.D. and other diuretics, diabetic patient should be treated with caution for fear ofhyperglycemia. Uric acid and electrolyte levels should be checked periodically in long term treatment and in elderly patients. SIDE EFFECTS: Rarely cases of: dermatological reactions, photo sensitivity, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea weakness, muscle cramps, dizziness, dry mouth, has been reported. CONTRA INDICATIONS: Combination with other potassium preserving diuretics (spironolacton). Patients with: hyperkalemin, progressive renal failure and known hyrersensitivity to diuretic sulfonamides, pregnancy, lactation, childhood. DOSAGE: One or two tabs. daily and preferably as prescribed by the physician. PRESENTATION: Boxes of 20 tabs. |
