BARKASTATIN is nystatin, a fungistatic and fungicidal substance produced by the growth ofstreptomyces noursei, with a potency of not less than 44001.U. per mg. COMPOSITION: Each F.C.tab. contains : 5000001.U. of Nystatin. Each teaspoon 5ml of dry susp. (after dissolving) contains : 5000001.U. of Nystatin. PROPERTIES: Barkastatin is an antifungus ofthepolyene group. It is fungistatic, with fungicidal effects in higher doses. Due to its effect on the fungi-cell membrane, it is not absorbed from the intestin nor from mucous membranes, and is eliminated through the feces . INDICATIONS: BARKASTATIN is indicated in the treatment and prophylaxis of yeastlike fungi induced diseases, specially candidiasis of the mucous membranes i.e. (oral cavity - agina) and the gastrointestinal tract. It is also indicated to prevent the development of candidiasis during long term antibiotic and corticos-teroid treatment. SIDE EFFECTS: Very rarely cases of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea have been noticed, these symptoms are transient and withdraw on reducing or stopping the dose . CONTRA-INDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to nystatin. DOSAGE: Inf. up to 1 year 1/2 teaspoon 5 ml 2-3 times daily. Child. 1-13 years 1 teaspoon 5 ml 3-4 times daily. Adults 1-2 tabs. 3 - 4 times daily . Or as prescribed by the physician . N. B.: Treatment should last 10 -14 days, and it should be repeated in chronic candidiasis every 3 weeks . PRESENTATION: Tabs.: Boxes of 20 F.C.tab.
