BARKAPECT is a syrup prepared from many active substances for symptomatic treatment of cough. Composition: Each teaspoonful (5 ml ) contains: Diphynhydramine 12.5mg Amounium chloride 62.5mg Sodium Citrate 75mg Properties: Diphynhydramine as an antihistamine is used in the treatment of allergic and irritative cough. While amounium chloride is an expectorant. Indications: Symptomatic treatment of cough' especially allergic and irritative. It is also used as an expectorant. Contra-indications: Respiratory complications (cyanosi) – urine retention ( of prostatic origin). Side-effects: Rarely cases of Dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, urine retention, have been reported. All these symptoms disappear on reducing or stopping the dose. Precautions: BARKAPECT should not be used with alcoholic drinks, and it is advised not to operate machinery while using it, diabetic patients should be warned of its sugar content. It is also advised not to prescribe it to pregnant and lactating women. Caution should be taken while prescribing BARKAPECT with anti-cholinergics – anthihistamines – antidepressants. Dosage and Administration: Children up to 6 years 1/2 teaspoonful (5ml) 3 times daily. Children 7 – 12 years 1 teaspoonful (5ml) 4 times daily. Adults 1 spoonful (10ml) 4 – 5 times daily. Presentation: A bottle of 100 ml. |
