Barkacine is Bromhexine - HCL -2 Amino- 3.5 Dibromoben- Zyl (cyclohexyl) Methylammonium HCL. COMPOSITION: Each tablet contains : 8mg Bromhexine HC1. Each 1 ml Oral drops contains : 2mg Bromhexine HC1. Each 5ml syrup contains : 4mg Bromhexine HC1. PROPERTIES: Barkacine is a mucolytic agent and expectorant which changes the structure of bronchial sectretion by rarefication and fragmentation of the mucopolysacharide fibers leading to a reduction in the viscosity of the sputum. INDICATIONS: Barkacine is used in the treatment of conditions in the respiratory tract associated with retention ofmucoid sectretion. ie. bronchitis and asthma PRECAUTIONS: It is advised not to administer Barkacine with atropine based preparations It should be used with caution to patients with gastric ulceration. SIDE EFFECTS: Very rare cases ofgastro - intestinal disturbances and increased serum transaminase level have been reported . CONTRAINDICATIONS: None. DOSAGES: Children above 12 and adults. 8 to 16 mg. 3-4 times daily Children 5-12 years : 4 mg. 3-4 times daily Children 1 - 5 years: 4 mg. twice daily PRESENTATIONS: Boxes of 20 tablets Bottle of 30ml drops Bottle of 100ml syrup |
