BARKAPHON: is a combination of an analgesic (PARACETALOL) and a muscle relaxant (CHLORZOXAZON).
Composition:
Each cap. contains 300 mg of Paracetamol + 250 mg of Chlorzoxazon.
Properties:
Chlorzoxazon is an efficacious skeletal muscle relaxant with a long lasting action, it is well tolerated, as it has been proved by long term clinical experience. Paracetamol is an analgesic which is nonirritant to the gastro-intestinal ract. By this double action Barkaphon interrupts the cycle of pain – muscle spasm, and rapid relief is obtained and mobility improved even in severely painful spasm of the skeletal musculature.
Indications:
Barkaphon is particulary effective in treating pain and spasm of the skeletal muscles in cases of :
Sprains & strains, myalgia, torticollis, tension – headache, traumatic muscle damage, lumbago, spondy lathrosis, cervical root syndrome.
Contra-indications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug components..
Side-effects:
Irritation of the gastro – intestinal tract, sommolence, vertigo, headache, nausea, allergic skin phenomena.
Precautions:
There is no evidence proving that the use of BARKAPHONE is harmless during pregnancy, caution is advised with patients known to be hypersensitive to the drug. Color change of urine is due to a phenolic metabolite of chlozoxazon but is of no significance. As with any medication, a routine check is indicated in the case of liver and renal disorders, and if the condition worsens the drug treatment must be stopped.
NOTE: BARKAPHON may impair activity even when used as prescribed, this should be taken into consideration while operating motor vehicles or using machinery, and is even more significant when  alcohol is consumed.
Dosage:
(Unless otherwise prescribed by the physician) 2 caps. 3 times daily (after meals).  
Presentation:
- A box of 20 tablets in strips.
